A Cedar City community

Living in Liberty Cove at Jefferson Park.

A newer twin-home community on South Liberty Cove Drive, on Cedar City's south side within about a mile of Southern Utah University and Cedar High School. This is close-in Cedar City living with less of the house to keep up.

I am Scott Buehler, a Southern Utah resident of 20-plus years and a licensed REALTOR and lender. This is the honest version of what these paired homes offer, what they tend to cost, and the handful of things I would check before you buy or sell one.

Fed straight from the MLS and limited to homes inside the community: new Liberty Cove listings appear here the day they list, and sold homes drop off. It is a small twin-home search on a short set of streets, so it can run thin between sales.

Life near campus

Close-in living with fewer moving parts.

Liberty Cove at Jefferson Park runs along South Liberty Cove Drive, roughly the 600 to 799 block, on the south side of Cedar City. The homes are clustered on a short stretch of one street, so the whole community reads more like a compact pocket than a sprawling subdivision.

The location is the draw. Southern Utah University and Cedar High School are both within about a mile, and the South Main corridor with its grocery and everyday errands sits a short drive away. You get newer paired-home construction, a two-car garage, and a fenced yard, without the longer commute a far-edge subdivision would ask of you.

Because the homes are new and similar, the differences live in the details. Street position, which side the shared wall falls on, basement layout, and yard privacy vary unit to unit, so I would walk a couple before treating any two as interchangeable.

South-side highlights

What makes this pocket work is the anchors.

South Cedar City has its own short list of reasons this location works: a university a few minutes away, a nearby high school, a close grocery run, and construction new enough that the homes need less near-term maintenance. Here is what sits within reach, and the part I would still map from your exact unit before you count on it.

Southern Utah University, close by

SUU's main campus at 351 W University Blvd sits roughly a mile away. That is a route I would still map from your exact unit before you count on a daily walk or bike ride.

Cedar High School nearby

Cedar High sits at 703 W 600 S, a short drive from Liberty Cove Drive. It is a genuine nearby anchor, not a walkable one from every unit, so check the route from the exact address.

Newer construction, less near-term upkeep

Homes here date to roughly 2022 and later, so most of the big-ticket items, roof, mechanicals, and finishes, are still under their original service life.

South Main grocery run

Smith's Food and Drug at 633 S Main Street is the closest full grocery stop for this end of town, a short drive from Liberty Cove Drive.

A short drive to downtown Main Street

Historic Main Street, with its shops, restaurants, and city offices, is a few minutes north, an easy trip rather than a cross-town errand.

A single, walkable street pattern

Because the community sits on one short stretch of Liberty Cove Drive, the whole neighborhood is easy to walk end to end, unlike a sprawling subdivision with multiple entrances.

Homes

Newer twin homes need unit-level comparisons.

Liberty Cove is newer twin-home product rather than detached single-family inventory. The homes I have tracked here were built from roughly 2022 forward and generally run about 1,850 to 2,300 square feet, so the floor plans are close cousins of one another.

Plans tend to run four or five bedrooms with two-car garages. Some units use a walk-out basement layout, and the finish list I have seen includes quartz counters, vaulted ceilings, and fenced yards.

On price, recent listings have generally landed in the high $300,000s to the low $400,000s, with the exact unit, basement, and yard moving the number. Treat that as a starting point: live competition and the specific basement or yard setup can shift the comparison quickly, so confirm against the live listings.

A shared-wall home on a one-street pocket needs its own comps, not a detached home down the road.

Trails & outdoors

A short drive to the city's paved spine.

This is not a trailhead neighborhood, and I would rather say that plainly than dress it up. The nearest outdoor amenity is Cedar City's paved Coal Creek Trail, which runs east-west across town along Coal Creek. Here is the honest tiering, from the closest access point to a full day out.

Coal Creek Trail, South 400 East access

The trail's south-end parking area off South 400 East is the closest documented access point, a short drive from Liberty Cove Drive. The path itself is paved and follows Coal Creek across town.

Iron Hills Trail System and the white "C"

The Iron Hills dirt-trail network, including the climb to the hillside "C", sits on Cedar City's south bench, a short drive from this pocket for anyone wanting singletrack over pavement.

Cedar Canyon and SR-14, seasonal

State Route 14 climbs east into Cedar Canyon toward Cedar Breaks National Monument, reached through downtown, a scenic drive rather than a walk-out amenity.

Three Peaks Recreation Area, ~20 min

Northwest of town, the BLM's Three Peaks area opens up mountain-bike singletrack, OHV trails, and bouldering out on the desert floor, about a twenty-minute drive from this side of Cedar City.

Trail details come from Cedar City's official trails pages and public trail directories. The wider outdoor picture, Cedar Breaks and Brian Head included, is in the Cedar City guide.

Errands & drive times

Errands, measured in minutes.

South Liberty Cove Drive sits close to the middle of town, so most errands stay short. Times below are measured from near the 700 South block of Liberty Cove Drive; from the far end of the street, add a minute or two.

Farther out, Cedar Breaks National Monument is roughly 35 to 40 minutes up State Route 14 in season, Brian Head's ski runs are about 40 minutes north via Parowan, the Kolob Canyons gate of Zion is about 25 minutes south on I-15, and St. George is close to an hour. The full day-trip map lives in the Cedar City guide.

Schools & education

Schools, by the facts.

Liberty Cove is part of the Iron County School District. This side of town sits closest to South Elementary (grades K-5) at 499 W 400 S, and the district's secondary schools on the south and central side of Cedar City are Cedar Middle School and Cedar High School (703 W 600 S). Southern Utah University, at 351 W University Blvd, is close by as well.

The district is redrawing elementary boundaries for the 2026-27 school year and has separately approved middle and high school boundary changes that take effect for 2027-28, so confirm the current assignment for any address you are serious about directly with the district rather than assuming from proximity. For independent school information, GreatSchools and Niche both publish data you can weigh for yourself.

I cover the bigger education picture, including SUU, in the Cedar City guide.

Twin-home checks

The shared-wall format is not a shortcut.

A twin home is two separate units sharing a single wall, and that single fact changes the checklist from a detached-home purchase or sale. Because Liberty Cove is a small, recent community on one street, the differences between units are subtle in photos and real in person.

Sound transfer, wall location, and garage placement change from unit to unit, so I walk the exact address rather than assume the floor plan matches the last one I toured. Basement layout is another variable: some units here show walk-out signals, so I check the stairs, daylight, and whether the finished square footage matches the property record before I trust a listing sheet.

Yard and exterior upkeep responsibilities on paired homes should always be confirmed from the current listing and the recorded property documents, since that detail can vary and directly affects what a buyer is taking on.

What I check before I compare two Liberty Cove units

  • The shared wall, bedroom placement, garage placement, and how sound carries in the exact unit.
  • Whether the basement is walk-out or standard, and if the finished space on the listing matches the county record.
  • Yard fencing, landscaping, and exterior upkeep responsibilities, confirmed from the current listing and recorded documents.
  • Recent comparable twin-home sales on this street, since a small pool means one or two sales can swing the picture.

What locals know

The details I would slow down and check.

No listing photo tells you this part. After more than 20 years in Southern Utah, here is what I would tell a friend looking at a twin home on Liberty Cove Drive.

  • Twin-home comps matter. This is paired-home inventory, so I compare it against other shared-wall sales before letting a detached home down the street set the price.

  • One street means a thin pool. Because the whole community sits on a short stretch of Liberty Cove Drive, a couple of sales can swing the picture. I read it against what is live that week, not a fixed number.

  • Basement and yard details change value. Walk-out basements and yard layouts can make two near-identical units feel different once you are standing inside them.

  • The location is the real feature. Campus, the high school, and the South Main grocery run are the point of living here, and each one still deserves an address-level map check.

The buyer side and the seller side.

Buying in Liberty Cove at Jefferson Park

Liberty Cove at Jefferson Park is a newer twin-home community on South Liberty Cove Drive, roughly the 600 to 799 block, on the south side of Cedar City. It sits within about a mile of Cedar High School and Southern Utah University, with South Main Street errands close by.

These are newer twin homes, two attached units sharing one wall, built roughly from 2022 to 2025. Listings I have tracked run about 1,850 to 2,300 square feet with four or five bedrooms, two-car garages, and finishes like quartz counters and vaulted ceilings. Some units use a walk-out basement layout, so I check that unit by unit.

Both are close by car, generally a few minutes each way, which is the real appeal of this pocket. I would still map the exact unit before you count on a daily walking or biking route, because street position, sidewalks, and traffic change the answer from one address to the next.

Because these are newer twin homes on a small, tight set of streets, the range runs narrow. Recent listings I have tracked have generally landed in the high $300,000s to the low $400,000s, with the exact unit, basement, and yard moving the number. Prices move, so confirm against the live listings before you lean on it.

Selling in Liberty Cove at Jefferson Park

Twin-home values move with the exact unit, basement layout, yard setup, garage, finish level, and the competing paired-home inventory on the market that week. Start with the home valuation page and I will compare your home against current Liberty Cove and nearby Cedar City sales, no obligation.

List with me and your home is featured across MovingUtah, on this page, on the Cedar City hub, and in the featured listings buyers browse on this site. The get featured page walks through exactly how that works.

It depends on how many other twin homes are listed right now. A newer unit with clean presentation, a clear yard story, and strong photos stands out when similar inventory is thin. Tell me your timeline and I will give you a straight read, not a pitch.

Yes, and it is common here. The main work is sequencing the sale, the search, and the financing so you do not get forced into a rushed move. Because I am dual-licensed, I can keep those pieces on one desk, taking one role only on any single purchase.
