An Enoch community

Living in The Ridge.

A neighborhood set on the slightly higher ground on the west side of Enoch, where the elevation is modest but the views are not. East-facing lots catch the sunrise over the Markagunt Plateau, and the Three Peaks formation anchors the northwest horizon. Cedar City is twelve minutes south, and the BLM trails are under ten.

I am Scott Buehler. I have spent 20+ years in Iron County, and this page is the honest version of what The Ridge offers, what it costs, and what the elevation actually means for daily life out here.

No active listings today. Up on the bench, The Ridge counts fewer than a hundred homes, and its panoramic lots almost never change hands twice in a year. Any that do will show on this feed as soon as the MLS records them. Prefer to hunt on your own? Open the map search or start from the homepage.

Life on The Ridge

What a day up here feels like.

Morning on The Ridge starts with the best seat in Enoch. The slight elevation lifts you just enough above the valley floor that the sunrise breaks clean over the Markagunt Plateau, no rooflines in the way, no trees blocking the horizon. East-facing kitchens and covered patios take full advantage of it, and if you drink your coffee outside, you understand why the lots on this side of the plat went first.

Midday is quiet. The Ridge is far enough from I-15 that you do not hear the highway, and the streets are arranged so through-traffic is basically nonexistent. Errands mean a twelve-minute run south into Cedar City or a quick shot to the Enoch City Park about five minutes east. It is the kind of neighborhood where you wave at the same people every day because the loop is small enough that you actually cross paths.

Evening is the show everyone bought here for. The valley lights flicker on below, the Markagunt catches the last light to the east, and Three Peaks sits silhouetted to the northwest. The wind moves through more than it does down in the basin, but on a clear evening with the windows open, you would not trade it.

Neighborhood highlights

The highlight reel, all within minutes.

Panoramic valley views

The defining feature of The Ridge is the sightline. East across the Cedar Valley to the Markagunt Plateau, northwest to Three Peaks. Lots are oriented to make the most of it.

Three Peaks Recreation Area

About eight minutes northwest. BLM-managed OHV trails, rock crawling, hiking, and dispersed camping. The full story is in the trails section below.

Enoch City Park

About five minutes east on Midvalley Road. Playground, open green space, picnic pavilions, and the Enoch Recreation Complex with ball fields next door.

Room to build what you want

Lots here are big enough for a shop, an RV pad, or a serious garden. Half-acre parcels are not unusual, and the elevated position means good drainage and better sun exposure than the valley floor.

Homes & lots

Built for the view.

The Ridge was platted in the mid 2000s on a gentle rise on the west side of Enoch. The subdivision runs about 50 to 80 homes on lots that range from a quarter-acre to just over half an acre. The layout follows the contour of the terrain rather than a rigid grid, which gives the streets a natural, curving feel and means most homes get an unobstructed sightline in at least one direction.

Home styles lean toward ramblers and two-story single-family builds, with a handful of split-levels mixed in. East-facing covered patios and large living-room windows are common because the view is the point. Many properties include a finished basement, and shops and RV pads show up on the larger lots. New construction on remaining lots tends toward modern floor plans with open layouts that maximize the eastern exposure.

Lot position is everything here. An east-facing lot on the high side of the street is worth more than the same square footage three doors down.

A practical note about living on a ridge: the wind moves through more than it does on the valley floor. Spring gusts and fall fronts hit a little harder up here. Homes are built for it, but a lightweight patio set or a trampoline needs to be anchored or put away when the forecast calls for wind.

Trails & outdoors

Three Peaks, eight minutes out.

The Three Peaks Recreation Area is the outdoor centerpiece for the west side of Enoch. About eight minutes from The Ridge, it offers miles of BLM-managed OHV trails, rock crawling routes from beginner ledges to technical competition lines, hiking paths through volcanic outcroppings, and dispersed camping across open high-desert terrain. No fees, no gates, just public land stretching to the horizon.

OHV & rock crawling

The area is best known for its rock crawling. Miles of marked OHV trails connect the three peaks, drawing riders and drivers year-round.

Hiking & camping

Hiking trails wind through the formations, and dispersed camping is allowed throughout. No hookups, no reservations, just open land.

Year-round access

The lower elevation keeps Three Peaks accessible when Cedar Canyon trails are snowed in. Fall and spring are prime; summer mornings work if you start early.

Trail facts: BLM, Three Peaks Recreation Area pages. The wider outdoor picture is in the Enoch guide.

Errands & drive times

Errands, measured in minutes.

The Ridge trades a couple extra minutes of drive time for the elevated position and the quiet. Groceries and errands run south into Cedar City, and the payoff is a neighborhood where nobody is just passing through.

Farther out: Brian Head's ski runs are about 45 minutes, St. George about 55, and Zion roughly an hour and ten. The full day-trip map lives in the Enoch guide.

Schools & education

Schools, by the facts.

The Ridge is served by the Iron County School District. Enoch Elementary is about five minutes east on Midvalley Road. Secondary schools are in Cedar City: Canyon View Middle School and Canyon View High School are roughly twelve to fourteen minutes south. Which specific schools serve a given address can change as the district adjusts boundaries, so confirm the current assignment directly with the district for any home you are serious about. For independent school information, GreatSchools and Niche both publish data you can evaluate for yourself. Southern Utah University is about fourteen minutes away.

I cover the bigger education picture, including SUU, in the Enoch guide.

What locals know

Notes from up the ridge.

No listing photo tells you this part. After more than 20 years in Southern Utah, here is what I would tell a friend.

  • East-facing is the only facing. Sunrise over the Markagunt Plateau is the daily headline up here, and west-side afternoon heat is not an issue when your big windows point east. An open eastern sightline is worth the premium.

  • The wind up here earns its reputation. Spring and fall gusts hit harder on the ridge, but the trade is worth it: fewer bugs, cooler evenings, and air that always smells clean. Anchor the patio furniture and you are fine.

  • Drainage solves problems before they start. The natural grade moves water away from foundations. Basements stay drier, yards drain themselves after a hard storm, and you never deal with the pooling issues the flatter subdivisions fight every spring.

  • Enoch runs on its own clock. City services, water, and property tax are Enoch's, not Cedar City's. Enoch's government is small enough that you deal with actual people who answer the phone. If you are comparing across the city line, check both sides.

Buying in The Ridge

The Ridge sits on slightly elevated ground on the west side of Enoch, with long views east across the Cedar Valley toward the Markagunt Plateau. It is about seven minutes from I-15 at Exit 62 and roughly twelve minutes from downtown Cedar City.

The Ridge offers mostly single-family homes across a range of sizes and styles, with ramblers, two-story builds, and the occasional split-level. Lots generally run from a quarter-acre to just over half an acre, and many properties take advantage of the elevated position with east-facing windows and covered patios built for the view.

The slight elevation gives many homes an unobstructed sightline east across the Cedar Valley to the Markagunt Plateau. On a clear morning you watch the sunrise hit the ridgeline, and in the evening the valley lights spread out below. The Three Peaks formation is visible to the northwest from many lots.

Recent sales in The Ridge have generally landed between the mid $400,000s and the mid $600,000s. Pricing depends on lot position, view orientation, square footage, and whether the home has upgrades like a finished basement or a shop. Prices move, so check the live listings for current numbers.

List with me and your home is featured across MovingUtah, on this page, on the Enoch hub, and in the featured listings buyers browse on this site. The get featured page walks through exactly how that works.

Homes with a strong view and a good lot tend to move when they are priced honestly. Inventory on the west side of Enoch usually stays lean. Tell me your timeline and I will give you a straight read, not a pitch.

Yes, and it is common here. Timing the two is mostly a sequencing problem, and I cover the playbook in the buy and sell at once guide. Because I am dual-licensed, I can keep the sale, the search, and the financing on one desk.
