Living in Sky View

Morning starts on new streets. The fairways of Sky Mountain Golf Course spread out right next door, and red rock fills the horizon. The neighborhood is still coming together, so the landscaping is young and the sidewalks are fresh. The townhomes are low maintenance, so there is no long list of yard chores, and a coffee out front is an easy way to start.

At midday, State Street is about five minutes away. It has groceries, hardware, fuel, and everything else the week throws at you. If the afternoon calls for water instead of errands, Sand Hollow Reservoir is about ten minutes south. Freeway access puts you on SR-9 and toward I-15 without fighting through town.

Evening brings desert sunsets over the west edge of town. The neighborhood sits next to the golf course, away from the busiest stretch of SR-9, in a newer part of Hurricane where the model homes are still open. The community pool, pickleball courts, and playground come with the neighborhood.

Sky View is new construction by Richardson Brothers Custom Homes. The model home opened in late 2024, and building is still underway. Everything is new here: the streets, the homes, and the landscaping that is still filling in. The builder is releasing homes in phases, so what is for sale changes as new sections open. While the builder is still selling, you compare prices against both resale homes and the builder's own new homes.

The homes are compact modern townhomes, not large detached lots. The floor plans are in the Aurora, Luna, Sol, and Strata lineup. They run roughly 1,244 to 2,000 square feet, with two to four bedrooms and two to two and a half baths. The layouts lean open-concept on the main level, which means the kitchen, dining, and living space share one open area. The primary suite (the main bedroom and bath) and a loft or additional bedrooms sit above. Lots are small and low maintenance, which is the point: less yard, more time for the reservoir and the trails.

One thing a floor plan does not show: Sky View was designed around shared amenities, not private yards. A pool and pool house, a BBQ area, pickleball courts, a playground, and walking and biking paths sit inside the neighborhood, right next to the Sky Mountain Golf Course fairways. You weigh that when you pick a townhome over a detached lot in this part of Washington County.

Hurricane sits at the center of some of the best trail riding in Southern Utah. Sky View puts you within minutes of three well-known trail systems. Whether you pedal, run, or hike, the red rock is not a weekend trip. It is what you do after work.

Sky View is served by the Washington County School District. For a home on the raised ground in the upper part of Hurricane, the usual district schools start with Coral Canyon Elementary (grades K-5) in Washington. Then come Hurricane Intermediate (grades 6-7), Hurricane Middle (grades 8-9), and Hurricane High (grades 10-12). Valley Academy is a K-8 charter school (a public school run apart from the district) in Hurricane, and it is an alternative to the district schools. The district is changing which schools serve which streets as it grows, so the school for a given address can change. Check the current assignment for any home you are serious about with the district itself. For outside school data, GreatSchools and Niche both publish numbers you can weigh yourself. For higher education, Utah Tech University and Dixie Technical College are both in St. George, about 25 minutes away.
