A central location with the upkeep handled
In shortIt was built in stages. County records show thirteen recorded phases, with the homes built phase by phase from 1984 to 2005, most of them in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Ridge at St George sits off Northridge Avenue in central St. George. Bluff Street and Dixie Drive are close, so most errands are a short hop, not a drive across town. This is a condominium community, so you are buying a unit and a location. You are not buying a big lot and a yard to take care of.
The community was not built all at once. The county's plat records (the recorded maps of the lots) show thirteen phases, built in order from 1984 (Phase A) to 2005 (Phase M). Most of the buildings went up in the 1980s and early 1990s. That matters when you compare units: an older phase and a newer one can differ in layout, finishes and condition, even though they share the community name.
For a buyer, the catch is a smaller space than a detached home. In return you get less outside upkeep and a central spot. For a seller, the sales to compare against should come from the same phase and a similar unit size. Any home with the Ridge at St George name is not enough.
Highlights
What a central St. George address gets you
Four things are worth knowing before you compare this place to a subdivision on the edge of town. It sits in the middle of the city, and it was built over about two decades. The schools are named so you can check them, and Pioneer Park's trails are a short drive away.
Central St. George, off Northridge Ave
The community sits set back from Bluff Street and Dixie Drive, so most of everyday St. George is a short drive, not a trip across town.
Thirteen recorded phases
County records show phases A through M, built from 1984 to 2005, most of them in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Named schools you can check
Heritage Elementary, Dixie Middle and Dixie High are the schools the Washington County School District currently lists for this area. You can check each one on washk12.org.
Pioneer Park, a short drive out
St. George's Pioneer Park, with its trails and red rock views, is a few minutes away on the north edge of downtown. You do not need a highway drive to get there.

Homes & units
A condo, not a house on its own lot
Ridge at St George is a condominium community, not a subdivision of detached homes on individual lots. Most units went up in the 1980s and early 1990s, in stages. A unit in an earlier phase and one in a later phase can differ in floor plan and finish, even though both share the same community address.
Few units sell in a community this size, so I look at the homes for sale right now and the latest sales instead of an old published average. Unit size, phase, floor level and whether the unit has been updated all move the number more than the community name does.
If you are weighing a detached home elsewhere in St. George against a unit here, think of them as two different kinds of homes. Less outside upkeep and a central spot come with a smaller space. That only makes sense if it fits how you want to live.
Thirteen recorded phases can mean thirteen different sets of homes under one community name.
Trails & outdoors
Pioneer Park is the closest trailhead
Living in the middle of the city means no trail at your door, but a good one is a short drive away. Pioneer Park, on the north edge of downtown St. George, is the nearest named trail system and a longtime local landmark. From there, the rest of the area's outdoor options are within reach.
Pioneer Park (easy to moderate), ~7 min
Smooth sandstone (slickrock) trails and red rock overlooks on the north edge of downtown, a longtime St. George landmark with views back over the city.
Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, ~15 min
The trailheads of the larger reserve are on the north side of the valley, a short highway drive from central St. George.
Trail names and general locations come from the City of St. George's parks pages. The wider outdoor picture for St. George is in the St. George guide.

Schools & education
Schools, by the facts
Ridge at St George is in the Washington County School District. Grades are split into four levels: elementary (K-5), intermediate (6-7), middle (8-9) and high (10-12). The district generally lists Heritage Elementary (K-5), Dixie Middle (8-9) and Dixie High (10-12) for this area. All three are listed as open schools on its site. Check the intermediate school (grades 6-7), and everything else, with the district before you rely on it.
Boundaries can change, so check the current assignment for your exact unit with the district instead of assuming. For outside school data, GreatSchools and Niche both publish numbers you can weigh yourself.
I cover the bigger education picture, including Utah Tech, in the St. George guide.
Thirteen phases, one name
Two decades of building under one name
Its many phases set Ridge at St George apart from most single-phase subdivisions I cover. Washington County's plat records show thirteen recorded phases, lettered A through M. County records show the homes built in order from 1984 (Phase A) to 2005 (Phase M), most of them in the 1980s and early 1990s.
In practice, this is not one uniform set of homes built in a single year. A unit in an earlier phase can sit right next to one from a later phase with a different layout or finish. When someone asks me to price a unit here, I first find its phase. Then I look at sales in that phase and of similar unit sizes, not at the community as a whole.
Nothing here is still being built, so every unit is a resale. That is worth knowing whether you are buying into an early phase or a late one.
Phase and build dates come from the Washington County GIS (the county's map records) subdivision layer.
What locals know
The details I would slow down and check
Before you get attached to one unit here, read the fine print: the phase, the unit size and the current listing photos. These are the things I would walk a friend through.
Ask which phase a unit is in
Thirteen recorded phases built over about two decades means the name "Ridge at St George" does not tell you the build year or the layout. Ask, and compare like with like.
This is a condo, not a detached home
If you are weighing it against a subdivision on the edge of town, you are comparing two different kinds of homes, not just two neighborhoods.
Central means quick errands
Having Bluff Street and Dixie Drive minutes away is a real, everyday convenience if you are tired of a long drive to groceries.
Check the current listing details
Few units sell here, so published averages go out of date fast. I would rather show you the homes for sale right now and the latest sales than quote a number from memory.

Buying in Ridge at St George
Ridge at St George is a recorded condominium subdivision off Northridge Avenue in St. George, a few minutes from Bluff Street and Dixie Drive. It was built in sections. County records show thirteen separate recorded phases, built from 1984 to 2005.
Ridge at St George is a condominium community, not detached single-family homes. County records show units built from 1984 to 2005, and the typical unit is around 1,200 square feet on a small lot that takes little upkeep.
County plat records (the recorded maps of the lots) show thirteen recorded phases, lettered A through M, built from 1984 to 2005. The community grew in stages over two decades, not all at once. Check which phase a unit sits in before you compare it to another.
This is a small condo community where few units sell, so a handful of sales can move the numbers around. I would rather pull the homes for sale now and the latest sales with you than quote a figure that may already be out of date.
The Washington County School District lists this part of St. George for Heritage Elementary (K-5), Dixie Middle (8-9) and Dixie High (10-12). Boundaries can change, so check the current assignment for your exact unit with the district.

Yes, and it is a common move from a condo into a detached home. Most of the work is getting the order and the timing right. I cover the steps in the buy and sell at once guide.
