A morning here can start with a walk. The Rim to River Trail drops into the gorge from a dirt lot on 300 South, a couple of blocks away. The canyon floor is best early. The trail is short and steep, and the climb back out is the hard part.

Midday is for errands. The grocery store is in town, and Hurricane is five minutes across the bridge. Zion Canyon Hot Springs is a few blocks away. On a summer Saturday you can hike down early and soak later, and stay off the canyon floor at midday, when it has little shade.

Evenings are quiet, the way they are at the edge of town. There is no through traffic and no street noise, just the last light on the Hurricane Cliffs as the town settles down. Hurricane is five minutes across the bridge if you need anything, but you probably will not.

Paradise Park was laid out in 2008 at the south end of central La Verkin, a few blocks from the gorge rim. It is small, about nine lots, mostly ramblers (one-level homes) and two-story builds with a more modern feel than the older streets nearby. The lots run about a third of an acre to half an acre, a little roomier than most in town.

The biggest lots, close to half an acre, are the ones to look for. That much yard is hard to find this close to the center of town. The eight homes were built from 2016 to 2021, so they are among the newest in this part of town.

When you tour a home, check the flood zone and the drainage on the seller disclosure, as you would for any home. The hot springs and the Rim to River Trail are both a few blocks away, which few streets in town can say.

Confluence Park sits in the gorge below the south end of town. This 344-acre county nature park is where Ash Creek and La Verkin Creek empty into the Virgin River. From Paradise Park you can walk two blocks to 300 South and take the Rim to River Trail down, or drive a few minutes.

Gravel paths and dirt trails follow the riverbanks past the ruins of a 1929 hydroelectric plant. In spots the river is shallow enough to sit in on a hot day. There is no water or staff down on the canyon floor, so carry what you need. For parking, use the dirt lot on 300 South, next to the animal control building, at the top of the Rim to River Trail. On a spring Saturday the park is busy. By a Tuesday afternoon in February, you might have the whole river bottom to yourself.

The Washington County School District serves Paradise Park. LaVerkin Elementary is right in town, preschool through grade five. Hurricane Intermediate (grades 6-7), Hurricane Middle (grades 8-9), and Hurricane High (grades 10-12) are all across the bridge in Hurricane. They are roughly four to five minutes from the neighborhood. Valley Academy, a K-8 public charter school, is also in Hurricane. The district can change which schools serve which streets. Check the current assignment with the district before you get serious about a home. For outside school data, GreatSchools and Niche both publish numbers you can weigh yourself.
