Morning on the hill starts with light on the Red Mountain skyline to the west and the Santa Clara River valley below. If you ride, the Cove Wash trailhead is about ten minutes out. It leads to Barrel Roll and a network of singletrack (narrow bike trails) on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land. For coffee and groceries, Harmons on Pioneer Parkway is five minutes the other way.

Errands stay close during the day. Harmons, the pharmacy, and fuel sit at the bottom of the hill on Pioneer Parkway. St. George is about twelve minutes east on Sunset when you want a bigger dinner out, and Costco is about fifteen. Tuacahn's Broadway season is about twelve minutes away, in Ivins. If you work in St. George, the commute is a straight shot: Sunset becomes Santa Clara Drive as it enters town, and you are home fast.

Evening is the best part of the day on the hill. The valley cools, the sandstone holds the last color, and the neighborhood goes quiet. In late September you can hear the Swiss Days parade from up here as it winds down the historic drive below. Village On The Heights gives up the flat street grid for height, and at sunset that is a good deal.

The homes here went up from the 1990s into the 2000s. That gives the subdivision a settled look, with mature trees, finished yards, and streets that do not repeat themselves. You will see ramblers (one-level homes) and two-story traditionals on hillside lots, many of them set to catch the Red Mountain and valley views. Lots generally run from a quarter-acre to half an acre, and because they sit up on the hillside, your back patio has something to look at.

The homes were built over more than a decade, so condition varies. Some have been updated with modern kitchens and baths, and others are waiting for their next owner's taste. In an older subdivision like this, it pays to know which fixes are cosmetic and which are structural. Cosmetic needs are about how a home looks, and structural needs are about the bones of the house. The Santa Clara River Reserve is the main place to get outside at this end of Washington County. It has miles of BLM singletrack, including Barrel Roll, Suicidal Tendencies, Sidewinder, and Precipice. The Cove Wash trailhead is about ten minutes from the Village and has a gravel lot and a trail kiosk. Tempi'po'op adds a thousand-year-old petroglyph panel (a rock face with carvings) to your hike or ride.

Snow Canyon State Park is about ten minutes away, through Ivins, with petrified dunes, lava tubes, and 38 miles of trail in red Navajo sandstone. Gunlock Reservoir is fifteen to twenty minutes west on Old Highway 91, and it is good for fishing, boating, and seasonal waterfall spills. Zion is about an hour east when you have a full day.

Village On The Heights is served by the Washington County School District. Most Santa Clara addresses are assigned to Santa Clara Elementary (2950 Crestview Dr, grades K-5) or Arrowhead Elementary (545 Arrowhead Trail, grades K-5). Students then go on to Lava Ridge Intermediate (2425 Rachel Dr, grades 6-7). Next is Snow Canyon Middle School (1215 N Lava Flow Dr, St. George, grades 8-9). Last is Snow Canyon High School (1385 N Lava Flow Dr, St. George, grades 10-12). Boundaries can change, so check the current assignment for any specific address with the district. GreatSchools and Niche publish independent school data. Vista School, a charter school (a public school that runs on its own) in Ivins, is another option.
