The short answer
Hyde Park is a small town on the east side of Cache Valley, one of a string of communities that follow US-91 north out of Logan. Smithfield is its neighbor on the north, North Logan on the south, and the two blend into each other with little to mark the line on the ground. Settled in 1860 and named for one of its first families, it kept a compact old town center around Church Square while newer subdivisions filled in the blocks toward the highway. Three things draw outsiders in: Mt. Naomi Farms for the pick your own fruit, the Hyde Park Canyon trail for a close in walk, and Hometown Days in July. The shape of it

Hyde Park is easiest to picture as a band running west to east. The western edge is US-91, the highway that carries the traffic up the east side of the valley from Logan through North Logan and on to Smithfield. Behind it the older grid sits around Church Square, where the town hall and the July celebration land, and the newer subdivisions fill the blocks between there and the highway. Keep going east and the ground tips up toward the mouth of Hyde Park Canyon, where the Bear River Range begins and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail runs. It is a short town, only a little over four square miles, and you can read the whole of it in a few minutes of driving.
What makes Hyde Park its own place, rather than a stretch of North Logan or Smithfield, is mostly that compact center and the farmland that still edges the town. Mt. Naomi Farms sits on the north side toward Smithfield, a pick your own fruit operation that people drive in for when the season is on. Hyde Park is a small town on the east side of Cache Valley, on the US-91 corridor between North Logan and Smithfield. Locally it is known for Hometown Days each July, for Mt. Hyde Park sits on the east side of Cache Valley in Cache County, strung along US-91 between North Logan to the south and Smithfield to the north. Logan, with the university, the regional hospital and the large grocery stores, is about five miles and ten minutes south.
The 2020 census counted 5,234 people in Hyde Park. It is one of the smaller cities on the east side of the valley, and it has grown as new subdivisions filled in the blocks between the old town center and the highway.
Hyde Park is part of the Cache County School District, and Green Canyon High School is the assigned high school. The district is moving to a six through eight middle school model, with Juniper Ridge Middle School added for the 2026 to 2027 year, so confirm the current attendance boundary with the district. The nearest emergency room is at Cache Valley Hospital, a MountainStar facility right next door in North Logan. Logan Regional, the valley's larger hospital, is a few minutes further south in Logan.
Hometown Days is the town's summer celebration, held each July around Church Square. The lineup has included the Velvet Highway Parade, a fun run and the Hyde Porker barbecue, along with the usual booths and evening events. Dates shift year to year, so confirm the current schedule before you plan around it.
It is a 2.85 mile segment of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail that runs into Hyde Park Canyon on the east edge of town. The path opened in 2024 and is a gentle gravel grade, which makes it an easy close in walk, run or ride with a view back over the valley.
Hyde Park was settled in 1860 and takes its name from William Hyde, one of its early settlers. The town was incorporated in 1892. It covers a little over four square miles and sits at roughly 4,650 feet of elevation.
Mt. Naomi Farms is a pick your own fruit farm on the north edge of Hyde Park, named for Mount Naomi, the high point of the Bear River Range above the valley. It is one of the town's better known stops when the fruit is in season.
