The parks Riverdale
Three city parks, a splash pad, and the Community Center
Riverdale's three parks and the Community Center
Riverdale runs three city parks and a Community Center gym inside a compact town on the Weber River. Riverdale Park on Parker Drive carries the splash pad and the courts, Golden Spike has the ball fields, and East Park is a small neighborhood park. There is no public pool, no dog park, and no library branch in town, so each of those means a short drive to a neighboring city.
The short answer
Riverdale keeps three city parks inside a compact town by the Weber River, so most streets sit a short drive from grass, a playground, and a court. Riverdale Park on Parker Drive is the large one, with the splash pad, the ball diamond, sand volleyball, tennis courts, and a half-mile path. Golden Spike Park has the ball fields, and East Park is a small neighborhood park with a playground and a picnic table. The Community Center, on the same street as Riverdale Park, carries the indoor year, with a gymnasium and an exercise room, open early to late six days a week. What the city does not have is a public swimming pool, a dog park, or a library branch, and each of those sits in a neighboring city a short drive off.
The three parks
One with everything, one with the ball fields, and one small neighborhood park
Riverdale keeps three city parks, and the shape of the system is easy to read. Riverdale Park on Parker Drive is the destination park, with almost everything on it. Golden Spike Park is the ball-field park. East Park is a small neighborhood park, a playground and a picnic table and not much more, which is honest about its scale. The city does not publish a size for its parks, so treat any acreage on a trip-planning app as unofficial.
Riverdale Park
4300 S. Parker Drive Directions
The large one, at the north end by the river. The city lists two large pavilions and three small ones, a splash pad, two playgrounds, sand volleyball, a ball diamond, tennis courts, restrooms, and a half-mile walking path. The small pavilions here are first come, first served and cannot be booked; the larger ones can. It shares Parker Drive with the Community Center and the fire station, and the river trail's north trailhead sits at the same end.
The splash pad runs Memorial Day to Labor Day, and the city closes it one day a week through the season to save water during drought. Treat that as a standing seasonal schedule rather than a one-off, and check the current day with the city before you plan a visit around it. It is the one water feature the city runs itself, so a household choosing an address here partly for the splash pad should know the closure is set by water conditions rather than by the weather in any given week.
Golden Spike Park
1260 West 5050 South Directions
The ball-field park, with a large pavilion, two ball diamonds, a playground, restrooms, and a big open grass area. It is also the park the city is investing in, with a new playground and parking work funded in the budget, so the ground here is due to change.
East Park
4850 South 600 West Directions
A small neighborhood park on the east side, a playground and a picnic table and open grass. It is the whole of what the city lists, and it is honest about the scale.
Reserving a pavilion is worth understanding before you plan a gathering. The medium and large pavilions can be booked from May 1 to September 30, in two blocks a day, one in the morning and one in the late afternoon into the evening. The small pavilions at Riverdale Park cannot be booked at all. Reservations are made online or in person at the Community Center on Parker Drive, not by phone, and the city sets the fee, so call the Community Center for the current charge.
The Community Center
A gymnasium, an exercise room, and a game room, open early to late six days a week
4360 S. Parker Drive Directions
The building on Parker Drive is the part of Riverdale's recreation that runs all year. The Community Center at 4360 S. Parker Drive holds a full-size gymnasium and an exercise room, plus two meeting rooms, a kitchen, and a game room. It opens six in the morning to nine at night, Monday through Saturday, and closes Sundays and most holidays. It is a small, honest facility rather than a leisure center, and in a city with no public pool and no library branch, this one building carries most of the organised indoor life of the place.
Drop-in access is a small charge, lower for residents and for anyone 55 and up, and the city sells monthly and yearly passes as well. Those are the kind of figures that move year to year, so check the current rate with the city rather than a page. The program runs to youth sports, open-play basketball and pickleball, an after-school club, and group fitness, and the same desk takes the pavilion reservations.
The details
Good to know
- The Community Center is also the pavilion booking desk. Book the medium and large pavilions online or in person here; the city no longer takes reservations by phone.
- The exercise room is a modest set of machines rather than a full gym floor, so it is worth a look before you cancel another membership.
- Seniors can use the separate Senior Center exercise room at no charge. Call the city for its hours and activity schedule.
- Riverdale posts facility closures as news items on its own site, so check there before a first visit.
Where the parks money goes
Golden Spike Park is the one getting the investment
The city puts its parks and trails money into Golden Spike Park. Its adopted budget funds a new playground and a parking improvement there, with a smaller line for an outdoor classroom. If you are weighing a street near Golden Spike, that is worth knowing: the middle park of the three, the one with the ball diamonds and the open grass, is the one due to change rather than the settled amenity list it shows today.
The dollar amounts sit in the budget the city adopts each June, so ask the city for the current plan and where each piece stands. The budget is the most informative thing the city produces about its parks, and it routinely names work that no other page mentions, so it is the document to check rather than a park listing when you want to know what is coming.
Riverdale also runs a Senior Center. Seniors can use its exercise room at no charge, and the city runs a weekday senior lunch and senior programs. For its current hours and activity schedule, the city switchboard is the way to get an answer.
What is not in town
No pool, no dog park, no library branch, and which city has each
The honest tradeoff of a Riverdale address is that three things people often expect from a Utah city this size are not here, and each lives in a different neighboring city. There is no municipal swimming pool: Riverdale buys pool time from Roy, and its summer swim nights and the swim night at its July celebration are held at the Roy Aquatic Center. There is no dog park in any of the three parks; the nearest off-leash park is Club Heights Park in South Ogden. And there is no library branch inside the city; the nearest Weber County branches are the Southwest Branch in Roy and the Pleasant Valley Branch on Adams Avenue.
None of that is far. Riverdale is only about four and a half square miles, wedged between two interstates by the river, so a neighboring city is minutes away in most directions. But it is worth knowing before you move, especially if a pool membership, a dog park, or a walkable library is on your household's list. The bigger outdoor recreation the region is known for, the canyon, the reservoirs, and the ski resorts, is a drive rather than an amenity, and the region hub indexes it. What is genuinely close is the river, and the Weber River in Riverdale page has that in full.
A city that closes its splash pad one day a week to save water, and writes the reason into the schedule, is telling you what kind of summer it plans for.

Three: Riverdale Park at 4300 S. Parker Drive, Golden Spike Park at 1260 West 5050 South, and East Park at 4850 South 600 West. Riverdale Park is the large one, with the splash pad, the ball diamond, sand volleyball, tennis courts, and a half-mile path. Golden Spike has the ball fields, and East Park is a small neighborhood park with a playground and a picnic table. There is no fourth park.
Yes, in season. The splash pad at Riverdale Park runs Memorial Day to Labor Day. The city has been closing it one day a week through the season to save water during drought, so treat that as a standing seasonal schedule rather than a one-off, and check the current day with the city before you plan a visit around it.
No municipal pool inside the city. Riverdale buys pool time from Roy, and its summer swim nights and the swim night at its July celebration are held at the Roy Aquatic Center. The one water feature the city runs itself is the splash pad at Riverdale Park.
No. None of the three city parks has one. The nearest off-leash dog park is Club Heights Park in South Ogden, a short drive away, so it is worth knowing before you move a dog here expecting one in town.
No branch inside the city. The nearest Weber County Library branches are the Southwest Branch in Roy and the Pleasant Valley Branch on Adams Avenue, both a short drive from most Riverdale addresses.
Yes, the medium and large pavilions, from May 1 to September 30 in two blocks a day. The small pavilions at Riverdale Park cannot be reserved and are first come, first served. Reservations are made online or in person at the Community Center at 4360 S. Parker Drive, on 801-621-6084, and the city no longer takes them by phone. Ask the city for the current fee.

You can walk every park in Riverdale in an afternoon. Choosing the street to buy on is the part worth help with
The parks, the splash pad schedule, and the Community Center are easy to check in person, and worth checking, because the scale here is small and specific. Walk Riverdale Park at the hour your household would use it, ask the Community Center what a pavilion runs, and work out which neighboring city supplies the pool, the dog park, or the library branch you want, because Riverdale keeps none of the three in town. Tell me what you are weighing and I will introduce you to a Weber and Morgan partner agent who knows this side of the county, and stay on the file for the research and the financing.
