Weber & Morgan Riverdale
A small Weber County city built along one very busy retail road
Riverdale, a small city built along one of northern Utah's busiest roads
About 9,200 people on 4.6 square miles of southern Weber County, and the number that explains the place is the other one: the state counts roughly 8,761 jobs inside the same limits, close to one for every resident, nearly all of them on Riverdale Road. Away from the strip it is a small city with three parks, a paved reach of the Weber River, and a Fourth of July it runs itself, and it has no municipal pool, no library branch and no dog park inside the line. Seven pages on the city itself, and the wider Ogden valley on shared valley pages, linked here.
The short answer
Riverdale is a small city of about 9,200 people on 4.6 square miles in southern Weber County, and the thing that explains it is a road. Riverdale Road, the big box and restaurant strip that runs the width of the city between Roy and Ogden, is where nearly all of the daily life and nearly all of the work happen: the state counts about 8,761 jobs inside a city of nine thousand. Everything else here is small and specific. Three parks, one paved reach of the Weber River with a pump track behind city hall, one school in the city, and no municipal pool, library branch or dog park inside the line. This hub is the map to seven deeper pages on the city, and it hands the canyon, the reservoirs and the ski hills to the wider Ogden valley pages the whole area shares.
The city itself
A small city shaped by one big road, with a river reach on one edge and freeways through the middle
Riverdale is the kind of place you have probably already driven through without noticing you left one city and entered another. Its shape is a road. Riverdale Road, the big box and restaurant strip that runs the width of the city between Roy and Ogden, is where nearly all of the daily life and nearly all of the work happen, and the state counts about 8,761 jobs inside a city of roughly 9,200 people, close to one for every resident. That is what a busy retail corridor does to a small town's numbers, and it makes Riverdale the third largest job center in Weber County behind only Ogden and Roy. If you buy here, the first thing that matters about a house is how close it sits to that corridor, because the trade the whole city runs on runs straight down the middle of it. The page on the road takes the strip and the jobs apart.
Away from the road, Riverdale is small and specific. There are three city parks, one paved reach of the Weber River with a pump track beside the car park behind city hall, and a Fourth of July the city runs itself. What it does not have is worth knowing before you move: no municipal swimming pool, no library branch and no dog park anywhere inside the city, and each of those three sits in a different neighboring city. The pool time the city uses is in Roy, the nearest library branches are on Adams Avenue and in Roy, and there is no dog park in any of the three parks. The everyday shopping is inside the line; a few civic amenities are a short drive across it. The page on moving here sets out which services the city runs and which it buys.
Two more things a Riverdale address asks are about geography rather than scenery. The low ground toward the river bottoms is where a flood question belongs, and the honest answer for any specific parcel is the federal flood map you can look up by street address at FEMA's Flood Map Service Center. And the city runs along the northern fence line of Hill Air Force Base, so for a parcel near that edge the noise and accident overlay is held by the Riverdale planning department, not by the base; no gate is in the city, and the base itself, its gates and its museum belong to the Davis County side. The road, the river and the base are each their own page below.
Buy in Riverdale and the question is not the view. It is how close you are to the road that pays for the city, and how far the low ground is from the river.
Getting around
The freeways run through it, and the canyon country is reached through the neighbors
Getting around Riverdale starts with two interstates: I-15 and I-84 both cross the city, and the ramps and interchanges along 4400 South and 5600 South have been through a long run of reconstruction, so the crossroads page tracks what is current on the daily route. There is no FrontRunner platform in the city; the nearest are in Roy and Ogden. The one regional subject that actually begins at Riverdale's line is the Weber River parkway, which starts at the county line at the south end of town; the canyon, the reservoirs and the ski hills all sit up in the Ogden valley beyond the neighbors, so they live on shared valley pages, linked here. The six cards here are the doors to those subjects.

Quick answers
Riverdale, answered
Riverdale is a small city in southern Weber County, on the north bank of the Weber River, about twenty two miles north of Salt Lake City and just south of Ogden. It covers 4.6 square miles, with an elevation the city gives as a range across town, roughly 4,320 to 4,670 feet. City hall is the Civic Center at 4600 South Weber River Drive. Ogden sits to the north, South Ogden and Washington Terrace to the east, Roy and West Haven to the west, and the Weber River and the Davis County line to the south.
Three public bodies publish three current figures, and they do not quite agree. The 2020 census counted 9,343. The U.S. Census estimate for 2025 is about 9,200, a little lower. Riverdale City's own page prints 8,727, lower again. Use the Census figure to compare Riverdale with other cities, and treat the drop since 2020 as a small decline rather than a story about anyone. A fourth number sometimes seen, 9,279, is a five year survey average and should not be set beside the other three.
Because of one road. The state's labor department counts about 8,761 jobs inside Riverdale, close to one for every resident, which makes it the third largest job center in Weber County behind Ogden and Roy despite ranking ninth by population. Almost all of those jobs sit on Riverdale Road, the big box and restaurant strip that runs between Roy and Ogden and crosses two interstate freeways inside the city. That is a count of jobs and nothing more.
No. Newgate Mall's mailing address is Ogden, UT 84405, a ZIP Code that also covers Riverdale, but its parcel sits inside Ogden city. This is the clearest example of a rule worth carrying into any search here: a mailing address is not a jurisdiction. Riverdale shares that postcode with Washington Terrace, South Ogden and part of Ogden, and along this stretch of the valley the postal city and the actual city line disagree more often than not.
No to all three, and each one lives in a different neighboring city. There is no municipal pool, so the city buys pool time in Roy, which is where its own Fourth of July swim night is held. The nearest library branches are the Pleasant Valley Branch on Adams Avenue and the Southwest Branch in Roy. And there is no dog park inside Riverdale's three parks. This is worth knowing before you move: the everyday shopping is inside the city, but a few civic amenities are a short drive across the line.
Yes, Riverdale runs along the northern edge of the base, and the base itself lists Riverdale among its bordering cities. But no gate is in Riverdale; the nearest entrance is the North, or Roy, Gate in Roy, and everything past the guard post belongs to the Davis County side. For what an address near the base actually means, the planning department, not the base, holds the noise and accident overlay for any given parcel, and the base itself is covered on the Hill Air Force Base page.
One school stands inside the city limits and the rest of a child's schooling happens next door. Riverdale belongs to Weber School District, the county district rather than Ogden City's, and its one in city school is a kindergarten through grade six building. The state and the district both print its name as Riverdale School, though Riverdale Elementary is also in common use. The junior high and high school most Riverdale addresses feed toward sit on parcels inside Washington Terrace. This site does not rate schools; check a third party such as GreatSchools or Niche and confirm the boundary with the district.
Part of it is low ground toward the river bottoms, and that is exactly where a flood question belongs. The honest answer for any specific address is the federal flood map: look the parcel up by street address at FEMA's Flood Map Service Center, which returns the flood zone for that address. The higher ground away from the river is a different picture, so this is a parcel by parcel question rather than a whole city one.
Yes to both. Riverdale keeps its own fire department on Parker Drive, with ambulance service at the advanced EMT level and a heavy rescue capability that the county helps fund as a regional resource, which is more than a city of nine thousand usually keeps rather than contracting out. It also runs its own police department. The city bills its own culinary water, sewer, garbage and recycling, and buys just one service from a neighbor: pool time in Roy.
One road, one river, and plenty to weigh before an offer
What Riverdale asks a buyer is practical, not scenic: how close to the corridor you want to be, whether a parcel sits on the low ground near the river, which school an address feeds, and how you feel about a busy road being the center of a small town.
