A St. George community
St. George neighborhood Desert Solace.
A custom-lot subdivision off E Rimrunner Drive in the Desert Canyons area of southeast St. George, where larger parcels and Pine Valley Mountain views set it apart from the townhome projects filling in nearby. The Southern Parkway (SR-7) puts you close to the airport and the Desert Canyons trail system.
I am Scott Buehler. I have spent 20+ years in Southern Utah, and this page is the honest version of what Desert Solace is, including the fact that it gets confused with the townhome subdivisions next door.

Current listings
Homes for sale in Desert Solace.
No active listings today. Custom and semi-custom lots do not change hands often, and a good share of Desert Solace's third-acre pads are still waiting on their first build. When one of these Rimrunner Drive lots or finished homes does change hands, this page catches the listing as it goes live. Prefer to hunt on your own? Open the map search or start from the homepage.

Life here
What a day in Desert Solace looks like.
Desert Solace sits off E Rimrunner Drive on the elevated desert flats of southeast St. George, where the lots run bigger and the pace is slower than the townhome rows filling in closer to the Southern Parkway. Mornings here open up toward Pine Valley Mountain to the north, and the extra lot width means more room between neighbors than most new-construction pockets in this part of the city.
The Southern Parkway (SR-7) is the artery for this whole area, and the Desert Canyons Parkway interchange gives direct access from Rimrunner Drive without routing through downtown traffic. That same corridor puts St. George Regional Airport within easy reach, which matters for the number of residents who fly for work or have family visiting from out of state.
Because Desert Solace is a custom-lot subdivision rather than a production-built one, the streetscape is less uniform than a typical builder tract. Some lots are already built out with larger detached homes, others are pad-ready and waiting on a design. That mix is part of the character here: what gets built next to you may look nothing like what is already standing.
Around the neighborhood
What sits nearby, all within reach.
Desert Canyons trail system
A private-but-public trail network off the Southern Parkway right by the subdivision, with beginner and intermediate mountain bike loops including Secret Sauce and Claim Jumper. Hikers use the same paths.
St. George Regional Airport
Reached via the Southern Parkway and the Desert Canyons Parkway interchange. SGU runs commercial flights, which matters for residents who travel often or host visitors from out of state.
The Southern Parkway corridor
SR-7 runs along the Desert Solace area and connects southeast St. George to I-15 at Exit 2, near the SunRiver area to the west. It is the fastest route out of this corner of the city in either direction.
The townhome subdivisions next door
Desert Bluff and Desert Vista, both separately recorded townhome subdivisions built by production builders, sit in the same general Desert Canyons area. They are worth knowing about because they are easy to confuse with Desert Solace online. More on that below.
Homes & lots
Bigger lots, built one custom home at a time.
Desert Solace is a custom and semi-custom single-family subdivision, not a production townhome community. Lots run around a third of an acre, meaningfully larger than the compact pads common in the newer Desert Canyons phases. Several lots are elevated with a clear line to Pine Valley Mountain, and buyers can bring their own builder or choose from the subdivision's preferred builder list.
A recent closed sale on E Rimrunner Drive was a 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom home at roughly 4,042 square feet, which reflects the larger-format character of the homes going up here relative to the surrounding area. That does not mean every home in Desert Solace is that size, but it signals the kind of custom build this subdivision tends to attract.
A pad-ready lot in Desert Solace and a finished townhome in Desert Bluff are two very different purchases. Make sure you know which one you are actually shopping for.
Because the subdivision is still filling in with individual custom builds, inventory is uneven: some months there is a finished resale to see, other months the only activity is a vacant lot changing hands. If you are set on Desert Solace specifically, tell me early so I can watch both channels, resale and available lots, rather than just one.
Trails & outdoors
Trailhead access, right off the Parkway.
The Desert Canyons trail system sits just off the Southern Parkway near the subdivision and the airport, with beginner and intermediate mountain bike loops that also see regular hiking and trail-running traffic. The Secret Sauce loop is the entry point for newer riders, while Claim Jumper steps up to intermediate terrain. Both are part of a larger network that has become one of the draws for buyers moving into this corner of St. George.
Secret Sauce loop
A beginner-friendly mountain bike loop in the Desert Canyons trail network, a short ride from Desert Solace.
Claim Jumper loop
An intermediate step up from Secret Sauce, part of the same trailhead cluster near the airport.
Shared-use etiquette
The trails see both hikers and mountain bikers, so cyclists are expected to yield to foot traffic on shared sections.

Errands & drive times
Errands, measured from Rimrunner Drive.
This is the honest answer to "how far is everything from this part of St. George." Measured from E Rimrunner Drive, your errand pattern runs west along the Southern Parkway toward I-15 Exit 2 and the SunRiver area rather than toward downtown. Times are normal-conditions estimates and will vary by the exact street you live on.
| The errand | Where it happens | From E Rimrunner Dr |
|---|---|---|
| Flights | St. George Regional Airport (SGU) | ~10 min |
| Freeway access | I-15 Exit 2, via Southern Parkway | ~15 min |
| Full grocery run | Smith's Marketplace, SunRiver Pkwy | ~15 min |
| Trailhead | Desert Canyons trail system, Southern Pkwy | ~5 min |
| Dinner downtown | Historic downtown St. George | ~18 min |
Zion National Park and Snow Canyon State Park are both accessible from this side of the city but sit far enough out that they are better treated as day trips than errands. The full day-trip map lives in the St. George guide.
Schools & education
Schools, by the facts.
Desert Solace is served by the Washington County School District. The general feeder pattern for this part of southeast St. George runs from Desert Canyons Elementary (K-5) to Sunrise Ridge Intermediate (grades 6-7), then to Desert Hills Middle (grades 8-9) and Desert Hills High (grades 10-12). Washington County School District adjusted boundaries between Desert Canyons, Bloomington, and Little Valley elementary schools for the 2026-2027 school year, so confirm the current attendance boundary for any specific address directly with the district before relying on it. For independent school information, GreatSchools and Niche both publish data you can weigh for yourself.
I cover the bigger education picture, including Utah Tech, in the St. George guide.
Solace vs. the townhomes
Why Desert Solace keeps getting mixed up with the townhomes.
Search Desert Canyons online and you will find Desert Bluff and Desert Vista, two separately recorded townhome subdivisions built by production builders. Desert Solace is a different, custom-lot subdivision, and the distinction matters if you are shopping by product type.
-
Desert Solace is recorded on its own plat. Washington County GIS lists it separately from the townhome subdivisions, with its own subdivision code and phase records.
-
Lot size is the biggest tell. Desert Solace lots run close to a third of an acre. The nearby townhome subdivisions are built on far smaller, attached-style footprints.
-
The buyer, and the build process, are different. Townhome buyers pick from a builder's set floor plans. Desert Solace buyers are more often choosing a lot, then a builder, then a design.
-
Both share the same corridor. Whichever product type you want, the Southern Parkway access, the trail system, and the airport proximity apply to all of them.
What locals know
Notes from the southeast corridor.
- Ask which subdivision code a listing actually carries before you fall for a Desert Solace search result. GIS records the plats as separate parcels under different subdivision names, even though search sites often lump the whole Desert Canyons area together.
- Elevated, pad-ready lots with a Pine Valley Mountain view sell for a premium over flatter interior lots in the same subdivision. Ask about lot orientation before you commit to a design.
- The Desert Canyons trail system predates a lot of the newest housing here, and locals treat it as a genuine amenity, not just marketing copy. It gets real weekday and weekend traffic from riders and hikers.
- Because Desert Solace is still filling in one custom build at a time, expect construction traffic and staging materials on some streets even after your own home is finished.

Buying in Desert Solace
Desert Solace is a subdivision off E Rimrunner Drive in the Desert Canyons area of southeast St. George. It sits along the Southern Parkway (SR-7) corridor, near the Desert Canyons Parkway interchange, and close to St. George Regional Airport.
Desert Solace is a custom and semi-custom single-family subdivision, not a townhome community. Lots run around a third of an acre, several pad-ready and elevated with Pine Valley Mountain views. Recent sales have included large detached homes in the 4,000-square-foot range. Buyers can bring their own builder or choose from the subdivision's preferred builders.
Desert Solace is a separately recorded subdivision inside the broader Desert Canyons area of southeast St. George, distinct from the Desert Bluff and Desert Vista townhome subdivisions nearby. It shares the same corridor, the same Southern Parkway access, and the same general geography, but it is platted and recorded on its own.
Desert Solace trades at the higher end of the Desert Canyons area given its larger lots and custom-build character. A recent closed sale on E Rimrunner Drive was a 5-bedroom, 4,042-square-foot home. Pricing depends heavily on lot position, view, and whether a home is new construction or resale, so confirm against current listings before assuming a number.

Selling in Desert Solace
Custom-lot subdivisions like Desert Solace do not price off a single template. Lot size, view corridor, and build quality all move the number. Start with the home valuation page and I will run a comparison against recent Desert Solace sales and what is currently active nearby, no obligation.
List with me and your home is featured across MovingUtah, on this page, on the St. George hub, and in the featured listings buyers browse on this site. The get featured page walks through exactly how that works.
It depends on how many custom lots are still available nearby and what the current builder pipeline looks like in the wider Desert Canyons area. Tell me your timeline and I will give you a straight read against current conditions rather than a generic answer.
Yes, and it is common with custom and semi-custom homes where build timelines matter. Timing the two is mostly a sequencing problem, and I cover the playbook in the buy and sell at once guide. Because I am dual-licensed, I can keep the sale, the search, and the financing on one desk.
